Instruction:
Host OS: Windows XP
Virtual machine: VMware-workstation-5.5.2
Guest OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3
Setup notes:
1. VM-->Install VMware Tools
Installing the VMware Tools package will greatly enhance graphics and mouse performance in the virtual machine.
Ps: You cannot install the package until the guest OS is running.
2. In Linux OS, the way to run a program is. /program-name
3. To make your change valid, make sure to save your current setup before you Logout or Restart.
4. Network in the Guest OS, some problem such as command “ifconfig” cannot be found, or ping is out etc, solutions as following:
Log in as the user: Root.
IP in my Host OS is DHCP, to allocate a static IP in Guest OS, and DNS Gateway and so on.
In Host OS, change the Network to be share.
So network is OK, but there is still a bother problem: Chinese characters in the Web Pages are not normally displayed, maybe an additional patch required.
